Activision has banned over 136,000 ranked Call of Duty cheaters across Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Players who have finished the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 achievements and have started their journey in the competitive mode will know, it's just a drop in the bucket at this point, but it's still great news for the Xbox first-person shooter.

Activion reveals anti-cheat plans for Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone 2.0

  • Over 136,000 Ranked cheaters have been banned from Black Ops 6 and Warzone
  • Season 2 will introduce "New and improved client and server-side detections and systems"
  • Season 3 will add a "brand-new system to authenticate legit players and target cheaters"
As announced by Activision, over 136,000 cheaters have been banned from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone 2.0 with the help of new Ricochet anti-cheat systems. The Ricochet team recently updated its detection models to track the likes of aim botters and other serial cheaters, as well as warning systems that detect other accounts that have regularly partied with cheaters for boosting and the like.

Activision also highlights that "malicious reporting" goes against its Security and Enforcement policy, and contrary to what cheat developers might say, "When a user spams the report button in-game multiple times against a user, or someone uses an illegal cheat tool to spam 10,000 reports, our system does not consider more than one single report from a player versus another."

Looking forward, Call of Duty Season 2 — which kicks off on January 28 — will introduce "New and improved client and server-side detections and systems," while Activision will also make a "Major kernel-level driver update" for driver security improvements and a "reinforced encryption process." Even further afield, the team has plans for a "multitude of new tech including a brand-new system to authenticate legit players and target cheaters" in Season 3, although we'll have to wait to learn more about that.

If the plague of cheating scumbags in Ranked turns you off from playing Black Ops 6 competitively, there is some good news. Activision has announced that players on console will be able to disable cross-play with PC for Ranked play sometime during Season 2. It doesn't sound like it's coming to the standard modes yet, but it's a great start.
