Following the delay of Cities Skylines II on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass, players on PC and PC Game Pass will have to wait until 2024 to play the upcoming expansion pass content. However, you can see what Paradox has planned for the game via a new roadmap.

As announced on the Cities Skylines II Steam page, Paradox Interactive has delayed the game's expansion pass content into 2024, as the team is committed to "improving the game's performance and prioritizing the mods editor availability." While the content has been pushed back into 2024, we've only been given a Q1 release window, so it could be some time before we can get our hands on it. According to the Word of the Week blog post, Paradox has finished with many of the quicker fixes and is now digging into the more difficult bug fixes, performance improvements, and mod support additions. Due to this, the weekly updates will now stop and will instead have longer gaps between them.

"This decision to delay certain content releases has been made as we are focusing on improving the game's performance," Paradox says. "In line with what has already been done over the past weeks."

Cities Skylines II roadmap revealed as expansion content is delayed

Looking at the new roadmap above, the Beach Properties pack will arrive alongside the Deluxe Relax Radio Station sometime in Q1 2024. That will then be followed by the Modern Architecture and Urban Promenades content creator packs and Rock Soft Radio Station in Q2 2024. All of the content will be available via the Cities Skylines II Expansion Pass, which can be purchased separately or as part of the game's Ultimate Edition.

Expansion Pass including the San Francisco Set, Beach Properties Asset Pack, two Creator Packs, the Bridges & Ports Expansion as well as 3 Radio Stations paired with each release.
It is included in the Ultimate Edition at a discounted price. The Expansion Pass will also be sold separately once the first content is released in Q1.
Paradox says that the DLC and Xbox Series X|S versions won't arrive until after it has got the base game to a quality level the team wants. "Once the PC version is where we want it to be, we will be focusing on the console release and DLC content," Paradox says. "We are committed to bringing the marketed DLC content to you, but it will not be landing in the originally promoted schedule."

Cities Skylines II is available on PC and via PC Game Pass at the moment, as the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass version was delayed earlier this year into 2024. It was supposed to arrive in October, but due to Paradox wanting to hit certain quality targets, it was pushed into "spring 2024."

If you're on console and want to fill your time while you wait for Cities Skylines II to arrive, why not check out some of the best games on Game Pass while you wait?
