Although it's been tumbleweed since Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2023, Take-Two has reiterated that GTA 6 will launch this autumn.

Despite months of silence, GTA 6 is still launching in 2025 according to publisher Take-Two, which says we'll be unlocking the Grand Theft Auto VI achievements sometime this fall. It's been over a year since the awesome reveal trailer for Rockstar's upcoming open-world Xbox game, and we're yet to see anything new, but we'll apparently be playing it in a few short months.

Take-Two says Grand Theft Auto 6 is still on track for an autumn 2025 release

  • Rockstar announced GTA 6 in December 2023, and we're yet to learn almost anything about the game
  • Take-Two has confirmed that it'll launch this fall
  • Rockstar is "seeking perfection" before releasing Grand Theft Auto 6
Following a year of relative silence, rumors have suggested that the highly-anticipated GTA 6 could be delayed out of 2025, but according to Take-Two, that's not true. In the publisher's latest earnings report, Take-Two says, “Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, as we plan to launch Sid Meier’s Civilization VII on February 11, Mafia: The Old Country in the Summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall, and Borderlands 4."

There is still plenty of time between now and the fall, however, and plans could change, but as it stands right now, we'll have our hands on GTA 6 later this year. We can probably expect to see Rockstar's creation appear during Summer Game Fest 2025, which returns this year between June 6 and June 9, and features over 40 "leading game publishers."

Late last year, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that he isn't concerned about Xbox Series S performance in relation to GTA 6, which judging by the announcement trailer, could be a graphically intensive game. "We support the platforms where the consumers are for as long as they’re there, and we find a way to support platforms despite different levels of tech,” Zelnick said.

As for other recently announced release windows, EA has confirmed that Battlefield 6 will launch before April 2026, so there is a chance we could see the popular shooter arrive before the end of the year.

Turning back to Rockstar's game, many publishers reportedly "hope" GTA 6 will cost up to $100. Will you be picking up GTA 6? Drop a comment below and let us know!
