Max-level tower looks the same as the one in the achievement, no hermit required. It can take in 4 archers.

    Upgrades:
    Level 1: wood (1 archer)
    Level 2: wood (1 archer)
    Level 3: stone (2 archers)
    Level 3: stone (3 archers)
    Level 4: brick (3 archers)
    Max-level: brick (4 archers)

I got this in land 5, had cleared the greed and had the unicorn mount. Took me about 20-30 days so be prepared to be bored.

    A few notes:
    - Archers will prefer towers so don't build new towers if you are struggling with your defense of the base.
    - The last two levels will each take plenty of time to build. Make sure your builders are safe.
    - I cleared all trees in land 5 except the ones surrounding two camps. Other lands might not have enough spots for towers.
    - Achievement popped when I had put the coins in to the last tower, didn't have to wait for it to be ready.
    - Winter might not be a good time to build towers. Lack of income and mount getting exhausted make it last longer than other seasons.

Mrblackhill937I believe the Griffin will continue eating even during Winter, so that would be a better option for the mount, The Bear mount will also continue to hunt Deer (can't remember if Deer is out in Winter) You do get a Boar which will also give money once killed, i suggest to have 1-2, 2 man towers for that.. Spear man will also hunt Fish during winter.

ClockKingRMI guess it's possible to not have enough boulder mounds on island 5. On my current save I only count 19, which sucks because I killed all the Greed and amassed a huge fortune to do this but didn't realize I was short a spot until I cleared the island of trees.

I unlocked this achievement while playing Skull Island. Altogether, there were 22 boulders on Skull Island upon which I could build a tower. When I got to the 5th island during a campaign, it only spawned with 19. At the very least, Skull Island doesn't require a full 5-island campaign to get to it; just load it up in the challenge maps.

I might also recommend playing Skull Island to unlock this achievement, as you don't have access to any hermits that could be used to upgrade to a specialty tower (which nullifies progress towards this achievement). You must build the final four-archer tower as seen in the achievement icon to unlock this.

Granted, you would need to take out all the portals to safely get to all the boulders, but if you have some experience with the base game, you should do okay on this challenge mode. Some suggestions for success:

    - Expand as much as possible in the early days and get a sheltered farm within your walls to make easy money. Depending on spawn points for vagrant camps and the Hourglass Statue, I might recommend expanding to one side or the other first; I chose whatever side the Hourglass Statue was on, just to secure it from the Greed as quickly as possible.

    - Sock tons of coins into the Hourglass Statue to avoid an instant game over from the volcano in the background. You can keep the volcano at bay for 12 days at a time, and can continue to throw money into the Hourglass Statue every couple of days thereafter.

    - I only started chopping down trees next to vagrant camps in order to access boulders once I had already cleared one side of the map of Greed. Leave as many vagrant camps operational as possible (by leaving a tree standing on both sides of the camp) and you'll save yourself a lot of grief and money. The homesteads you can build in place of the vagrant camps suck.

    - You will not have access to the Archer, Builder, Farmer, or Swordsman statues for Skull Island, so you'll need to compensate with tons of archers and pikemen. Seems obvious, but worth mentioning since your archers won't be as effective throughout the challenge.

    - You do have access to iron right off the bat, which allows you to upgrade the kingdom's innermost walls to max pretty quickly by upgrading the campsite. In an effort to save money, don't upgrade the innermost towers closest to the campfire until they've been automatically upgraded along with the iron keep.

If, like me, you had trouble getting this achievement playing the base game because the game decided to never spawn more than 19 rocks for towers, it is very possible to get this on the Norse Lands expansion going for the Above and Beyond achievement. I had 20 rocks as early as island 4. Islands 5 and 6 always appear to have 20.

    Achievement is simple enough:

    - build 20 archer towers and upgrade them to their highest levels (this requires both logging camp upgrades activated)

    - DO NOT use a hermit on an archer tower, it will not count as a max-level tower! If you do, it will prevent you from getting the achievement if you only have 20 rocks!

    - 99% sure this needs to be done BEFORE clearing the island of greed (destroying the greedling cave)

    - The 20th tower does not need to be built for the achievement. It will unlock as soon as the coins are spent for max level.

NOTE: rocks can sometimes spawn too close to a vagrant camp meaning you will have to clear the camp to use it. :(
