Another key point is whenever you see a vendor with lockpicks BUY THEM. Nothing worse than finding a rare purple or orange chest while exploring but you don’t have enough lockpicks and those chests usually have a decent amount of supplies for upgrading

Need to find ways to upgrade the unique armor and weapons quicker
Forza junkie since FM2. Horizons are the break I need from the track. FH4 and I HAD a volatile love/hate relationship. FH5: big disappointment

A general theme I seem to be hearing from most reviews is that the game really rewards you for exploration 😁

And that alone makes me eager to play!

It does, I love it! There’s loot hidden everywhere and it has unique items like New Vegas did, none of that randomly generated garbage lol

I finally heard a compelling feature for Avowed, they decided to make inventory management not entirely suck and put some effort into it. Crafting mats weigh zero and you can just “bag of holding/magic portal” your inventory to your camp stash at any time from anywhere. Compared to my nightmare solution in Fallout games for example, I have to say, very nice! The absolute inventory mess Starfield presented in the very opening of the game helped turn me off from the game. The Steve Jobs-esque response of “you’re holding it wrong” or in this case “don’t pick everything up” is just insane, you put 10x the stuff any player could carry in their very first building before they’d seen a vendor or they knew even as much as their character would about what would be valuable or worthless in this world and you answer to the complaint is “you don’t have to pick up everything”. Yeah thanks genius, also thanks for saddling your game with ancient RPG mechanics along with saddling it with your ancient and crappy dev tools.

So good for Avowed, I still don’t know if it’ll be a game that I like but it’s funny to see Obsidian show up Bethesda like every single time.

My goal is always one. It’s just one of my idiosyncrasies. I strive for maximum immersion. I feel multiple playthroughs, achievement mop-up, post-game play, and such breaks the immersion.

In the case of Avowed, I’m assuming Path of the Damned is the highest difficulty equivalent to Supernova in The Outer Worlds. If so, I would start Avowed on Path of the Damned. The achievement list seems fairly straight-forward. One might have to do some save manipulation unlocking:
AvowedSecret AchievementThe Secret Achievement achievement in Avowed worth 592 pointsContinue playing to unlock this secret achievement

I would imagine this is a ‘bad’ outcome and one would want to discard the gameplay leading up to it once the achievement pops.

Obsidian has not decided whether or not to release story expansion DLC. If so, I would endeavor to incorporate it or them into the single playthrough.

Im going to wait for the inevitable dlc which makes crafting mats less scarce. Most of the complaints Ive read center around how few mats there are and how enemies dont respawn.

Isn’t the point to disassemble unneeded gear for mats or is there not enough of that either?

From what I read, no. The biggest problem is you do 50% less damage if under a level of an enemy, and take 50% more damage if under a level. And all of that is based on gear.

If you focus on a handful of items to upgrade there’s enough but you don’t have a lot of room to experiment. I haven’t had issue keeping up on Path of the Damned but I explore every nook and cranny. Casual explorers might struggle
