If draining doesn't work out the way you hope it will, look into alternative and accessible controller options. Xbox is, to my understanding, one of the better platforms for that. I had looked at switches to switch sticks and larger, lap-or-table based controllers because of my neurological problems.
Ultimately, in my case, I have good enough use of my hands that just skipping games I can't handle is a wiser choice for me. Still, I've found some useful workarounds. Some games can be played with just one hand (Visual Novel Ord, possibly grossout title McPixel 3, Coffee Talk series except for a few achievemnts), and some games support mouse and keyboard (Minecraft springs to mind). Honestly, a lot of the visual novel category might be accessible to you one-handed.
It's rough being an older game at a transitionary point in your life. I'm 36 and on my second career, and I'm actually on the cusp of transferring from one store to another later this week. It can be incredibly lonely. But there are more of us out there than anyone realizes, and most of us are decent folks. I'm here if you need an ear. Have fun!
