I enjoyed the first one enough on my last profile to play it again one day. May take a look at this once my backlog is more tidy

From the Washington Post review headline: "Hellblade II is awe-inspiring to look at - not so much to play"

5 hours game for which we've been waiting for 5 years, ok.

    The review feels like it's a 6.

I was really hoping they would expand on the formula of the first game especially with the puzzles but I will play this regardless.

Most other reviews are saying this is mediocre. TA gave Forza Motorsport a 9/10 as well so you can draw your own conclusions about the credibility of their reviews.

To be fair, 'one of the best games Xbox has to offer' is probably true, but also isn't saying much. Damning with faint praise.

Why do you think that? I've only raised one negative point about the puzzles; the rest has all been positive.

84 on OpenCritic, about what I was expecting. Excited to play it! The first was a real gem.

Metro 5/10: "A joyless slog of barely interactive entertainment and a muddled portrayal of mental illness"

GameSpot 6/10: "undermined by its emphasis on fidelity over story and gameplay."

PC Gamer 58/100: "this sequel fails to escape the shadow of its predecessor with a muddled tale that Senua herself feels out of place in."

Just hope the puzzles are not too annoying.

Didn't play much of the first game but certainly enjoyed my time with it. The audio was absolutely fantastic. Don't really know when I'll try the sequel but I hope it does well.

The only thing so far that I'm dissapointed with is the achievement list. Only 11 achievement for a first party title is shocking...

    Eurogamer 5/5

    PCGamesN 9/10

IGN 8/10 (no idea where you're getting that 6/10 from)

I can pick three review scores too smile

    Current OpenCritic is 83

Gamespot is 6/10, IGN is 8/10. It is 80 on Meta/Open as I expected although I was worried making the same game with MS backing won't cut it anymore. It seems the critical reviews had the same opinion. They should have expanded on everything and make it something like God of War, not just remaking the first one with better graphics. It is the same Microsoft trend where they don't even aim for the top anymore. Graphics are great sure but everyone will forget this in a week.

If they make another one, the God of War route is 100% where the series needs to go.

5 hours to roll credits...if I was purchasing this I would feel robbed of my money. Not every game needs to be a 120 h Ubitrash bloatfest but this is just laughable.

Awesome review! Cannot wait to play. Need to really get back to the first one and finish that. 9/10 is probably very accurate. Microsoft with another win.

Personally I don’t care about what those self-alleged “professional” critic companies say in their reviews and scores they gave, who knows how much they got paid or not to write positively or negatively. The timings of those reviews from them kinda always get published before the launches of games, meaning that their points of views can cause confusions, some times big ones. Instead one shall check what end-users(gamers) say about the games, excluding all review-bombing parts
