There is at least two more big shows this year (game awards and Copenhagen or other name, I can’t remember), plus Tuesday’s (I doubt that show will have anything but id@Xbox games). This show was about the next 12 months, they can talk about the other games launching from June 2023 and beyond in those other shows.

I'm waiting for State of Decay 3. Maybe in 2023 or 2024. There's time.

The whole event was mostly "look at all the third party titles coming to game pass", sprinkled with a few first party titles. Where's the big announcements for games we have to wait a few years for? What the hell are Microsoft doing? And where's the supposed first party titles Microsoft keep assuring us is under development? Most games listed above were announced 2 years ago and back then they said "we have more games", where are they?
Is this sarcasm? Did you not read the literal first line of this article?
Or watch the first 10 minutes of yesterday's presentation?

Contraband, from Avalance Studios, was also missing from the presentation, as well from your article.

I was hoping to see Outer World's 2 but I guess it was obvious that that's not releasing in the next 12 months!

Yeah, I left out stuff that was only announced this time last year - it’s fairly natural for games not to be featured two years running and there is little more to say about those games at this time, article was already pretty research-heavy so I focused on the stuff we’ve known about for longer, though I’d be happy to jump back in and add them in the interest of thoroughness if people think it would be valuable.

Just teasing you (sorry). But then it may be a good idea to start the text saying that those are long announced games that still won´t make 2022.

Fenix isn't in that one IIRC
Is the collection rumored to only be the main line gears games?

I chose to enjoy what we are given instead of going for the crazy rumours and expectations that Youtubers and crazy fans set for the show. Saying that, I had a bliss at the event in Melbourne and was able to meet Major Nelson, very fun guy. Regarding the games, Forza Horizon Hot Wheels DLC, Forza Motorsport, Diablo 4, Starfield, High on Life and the new A Plague Tale Requiem, all great games that I can't wait to play. I just hope that internally the Xbox team is planning on deliver their first party games sooner rather than later, they have 23 studios and we barelly saw anything from them.

Also, I liked the approach of shwoing stuff that we actually are going to play within the year instead of putting out trailers for games that are 3 years away.

What I would say is more alarming to me is how 4 of the big titles are supposedly in stages of development hell. At this point, Everwild might not even be a thing anymore. Perfect Dark has had staffing issues resulting in the need to bring in CD and now who knows with the Embracer deal. Fable sounds like it's struggling as the team is making a new kind of game for them, while also trying to retain the style of the previous studio. Avowed has allegedly been rebooted at least once and in a state of constant change.

None of those things inspire much confidence at this point. All I can think of is the reports of how Anthem went one way, then another, then rebooted and shoved out of the door. Now I don't think MS has to appease the shareholders as much as EA did just throwing that game out, but still, worrisome.

My fear is that Obsidian has failed to come up with the necessary lore befitting such an ambitious open world RPG. The locales of the much smaller The Outer Worlds had a sameness to them & the game suffered from a cut & paste level design.
Necessary lore? The Pillars of Eternity universe that Avowed is appearing in already exists.

The Coalition also assisted in making the Matrix Awakens technical showcase in UE5.
Not a full game, but when a developer is literally used to showcase a new engines technical merits, it speaks to their competence and quality.

The thing that got me annoyed not being shown was Atomic Heart. It's still slated for this year and is on that 2022-23 release picture Xbox tweeted out. So why wasn't it shown again? More eyes need to be on that game.
