Avowed dev responds to concerns from Xbox Games Showcase trailer

    "As spotted by Klobrille" lul.
    My Klobrille spots other things.

To the topic: I don't get the complaints, the game looks good.
It was actually one of very few trailers I believed it will look like this, when it's out.
People have way too high expectations these days, everything has to look ultrarealistic and should be playable for a penny.

I much prefer (for the most part) Xbox's hands off approach to the studios they own, let the teams do what they do best without interfering or forcing them to make changes for the sake of money making, though them checking in asking if they need anything wouldn't hurt rather than being a distant parent who only checks in near completion of the game's development. A lot of games they've made could've done with a helping hand from them rather than be entirely hands off

People are complaining about this? It's not my style of game at all but I objectively thought it looked pretty good.

Must be Sony trolls trying to find something to whine about. The whole showcase was good stuff.
    State of the badass art.

Honestly, I'd hate to be a game developer now days.

Show a game early - "This looks janky and bad"

Wait until game is polished - "why aren't they showing anything? It must be in development hell or bad"

Release a game despite knowing it needs more time - "this is a buggy mess, they should have delayed"

Delay a game because you need time to finish - "I can't believe they delayed it again! This studio sucks"

Honestly, I miss the 90s and 2000s before social media.

Fully agree people are too opinionated and think because they use social media what they say is actually important. Most people are whiny and negative.

It looks absolutely brilliant. No idea what people are whining about!

And this is Obsidian - easily one of the best developers of WRPGs for the last 26 years! I have no doubt it'll be great.

It reminded me of Kingdoms of Amalur, which while good for its time looks dated now. So fingers crossed it improves before launch.

This is where all that MS money/support is gonna be in (and The Outer Worlds 2).

Obsidian isn't really known for bleeding edge graphics so I assume any attempts at top-tier graphics on their part will be new to them.

While Obsidian has yet to disappoint me, they're games always seem to be short of true greatness in one way or another.

I'm hoping MS gives them (and InXile) the support they need to realize their full potential.
MS has iconic Western RPG legends in their hands, I hope to see something truly amazing out of their studios.

Bigger issue with the trailer were those animations. Looked dated and the melee didn't have that "thump" you'd expect. Reminded me of Oblivion's rather wooden combat.

It looked good graphically speaking to me. I'm looking forward to it. Games don't need to be hyper realistic looking.

The game looks fine. Armchair game devs need to stop worrying and just let them work.

Diem adds, "development is going well right now, MS is allowing Obsidian free license to do as they will, and if it is success or fails it'll be on Obsidian's own terms." What kind of moronic logic is this? So if the studios Xbox aquires make bad games its only on the Studios and not on Xbox? What the hell are they smoking over at Lbox these days
Clearly the stuff called masterpieces. Something you ponys wouldn't know anything about. But you know about flops very well. Just look at the TrashStation brand, and that garbage Lcase last month.

laugh Been gaming since I was three years old. Started off with a Super Nintendo, moved onto a PlayStation One, then PlayStation Two, and even a Nintendo Gamecube. Then I got my first Xbox 360 in 2008, in 2016 purchased an Xbox One system. Now I have an Xbox Series X/S. Been an Xbox fanboy ever since. Can't stand Sony, Nintendo, it's games, it's fans, or PC, and it's players. Xbox is the greatest gaming platform of all time, it beats everything else as nothing will ever beat it. laugh
