Hi Ostrowiszki - the content in the walkthrough looks good so far, but there hasn't been an edit in a little while so I will drop the walkthrough owner a message
    Good vibes only <3

I have messaged the walkthrough owner - they are currently struggling to find time to continue with the walkthrough and will have to take a break for now. They will try and continue with the walkthrough in the future but are happy for anyone to take over if they wish to. So please post in this forum or let one of the walkthrough managers know if you would like to take over the walkthrough or contribute. Thanks

Hello folks! I am zr122, and I've recently taken over as the Owner of this Walkthrough!

This game is actually a bundle, consisting of three distinct Achievement lists. Given that these are all medium to long RPGs, it is going to take a considerable amount of time to write.

Even though there are three distinct lists, I will not be releasing the Walkthrough in pieces as each list is finished. It will be released when the entire thing is finished.

I will be posting (somewhat arbitrary) updates on my progress in this thread, so feel free to click the "Add to My Threads" button on this screen to get notified when I do. You should also click on the "Notify me when this walkthrough is published" link up at the top. You can also add me as a friend here on TA to get updates as I earn Achievements.

There is a percentage progress bar in the upper right corner of this page. This will increase as I add Achievements to the Walkthrough. Each 1% point added is roughly two Achievements.

For a general sense of how I structure Walkthroughs, and of my writing style, you should check out my other Walkthroughs here on TrueAchievements. My most recent site conributions are KINGDOM HEARTS - HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX Walkthrough, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Walkthrough, and KINGDOM HEARTS III Walkthrough.

Finally, I want to thank you all for your patience as I write this!

    Progress Update: 25%

There are currently 42 Achievements in the Walkthrough, all from BG1. There are seven Chapters in the game, and I'm currently writing in Chapter Five. There are a lot of Achievements to get in the early game, but they slow down considerably as you reach the end.

At my current pace, I should be done with BG1 sometime in August. I'll post another update when that game is complete. Probably.

    Progress Update: BG 1 Complete

All 54 Achievements and 1,000 GamerScore for the first game are in the Walkthrough. I just finished my Legacy of Bhaal playthrough last night, and wow did that require a lot of luck.

I'm going to be starting Siege of Dragonspear at some point later today. It looks like a much shorter campaign, but with a similar amount of Achievements. Should be interesting to see how frequently they unlock.

Progress has been slow lately. I missed several optional side quests in the base game of BG1 that are continued in Siege of Dragonspear. They involve the 4 new characters introduced in the Enhanced Editions.

I've also come up with a cleaner way to highlight situations with missable Achievements, but in order to keep it consistent I need to rewrite several sections of the walkthrough. This unfortunately means replaying the first game as I no longer have helpful save files.

I estimate being able to continue with Main Story progress starting in February.

Probably, this is one of the hardest guides of all the Xbox games. It's a hard work and an amazing challenge.

    Thanks zr122!

Update time: as I mentioned earlier, I've gone back and reworked some of the Walkthrough to make it more user friendly, and add in some content I missed the first time around. None of this has resulted in unlocking any Achievements, unfortunately.

At this point, I am getting close to being done the rework of the first game, after which I'll be able to dig back into Siege of Dragonspear and make some substantial progress forward. Given how short that campaign is, and how many Achievements there are to unlock, I expect the progress bar on this page to jump dramatically once I return to that content.

The WT is currently sitting at ~64,000 words. This covers basically everything within the bulk of BG1, the first chapter and a bit of SoD, and a bunch of incomplete content about character generation and a partial "How To Play" page that I have been updating slowly as I learn new things.

I'm still quite a long way from being able to publish, so I appreciate everyone's patience!

First of all thanks for this. I can't imagine tackling a walkthrough like this and it's extremely impressive. Secondly, just as a stylistic question how "hand-holdy" is this guide? For complex games (especially RPGs), I like for the writer to guide me completely in terms of character creation, pick ups, etc. So I guess my question is are you writing this to be followed step by step with a specific class or is it more of a general path through the game? Thanks again.

Hey, thank you for the support! I hope the final product lives up to expectations!

I've been trying to strike a balance between being "hand-holdy" and allowing for people to customize their experience, and I'm relatively happy with the result. Part of that process has involved going back through and re-writing large portions of the BG1 Walkthrough, which is the biggest reason why the Walkthrough is taking so long.

As it stands right now, the Walkthrough is structured with the assumption that you are playing as a specific custom character, with a specific party composition. This includes equipment used, spells known, how to level everyone up, etc. I guide you and your party through each area, experiencing as much of the story and gameplay as possible. That being said, I try to keep the most detailed information in a separate, contained page so that the bulk of the Walkthrough is as neutral as possible for people who want to play their own way.

Given the nature of Baldur's Gate and D&D as a whole, it is almost impossible to give step-by-step combat advice. The AI is fairly robust, and everything is governed by dice rolls, so a fight can be dramatically different each time you attempt it, even though nothing about the set up has changed. Wherever possible I give general advice, with the understanding that people will (hopefully) experiment and find things that work for them.

One of the main reasons for this set up is, of course, the Achievements. 139/171 are flagged as Missable here on TA, with several of them requiring specific characters to be in the party, or for reached specific outcomes to various quests. This often forces the player - and the Walkthrough - to proceed through events in a specific order to ensure that things aren't accidentally missed.

This post has gotten quite a bit larger than I intended, so going to end it here. I do try to stay active in this thread, so feel free to ask more questions if you have them!

Nice, is this still in progress? I'm messing around in the game too at the moment but will give it a proper go when the walkthroughs published!
