Just Some Insane Tips

Thought I'd post some things I learned during my time playing this game, as I've noticed some things that work better than what has been posted in the walkthrough and elsewhere. It does start off hard, but once you get through the first 3 or 4 missions, it does get really easy as your units will be much more powerful.

First, and probably most controversial, I don't recommend playing this in the Jacked Game mode. This is for multiple reasons, as I did not find him that beneficial to the squad, and because this mode also ruins the loot system in the endgame. While some of the supreme weapon mods seem great, the legendary weapons are far more beneficial for your characters and being in the Jacked mode will limit the amount of legendary gear you get, should you continue after the story ends.

As for general tips, healing is useless and you shouldn't even spec into it. Disrupt is the most useful perk you can have. There were multiple times where I had enemies pinned for multiple turns. Be cautious in advancing, and use overwatch diligently. Heavy is the worst class in the game, don't even use them. Vanguard is underwhelming on insane, but can be a powerhouse on lower difficulties. If you get any attachments that have Expertise, immediately equip these, especially on support. Blitz is also a good perk, I used this on vanguards.

My favorite team comp was two supports, spec'd with Empower, Teamwork, Lock and Load, and Surge (more late game), along with a sniper, and/or a vanguard/scout. Any equipment with potential and increased movement range should go on support. As for the sniper, the assassin and hunter trees are the best, don't even spec in anything else. If done right, you can one tap a boomer on insane. You'll want Onyx Retro Helmet, Onyx Shell, and Onyx Greaves. The walkthrough states the Delta gear is best for the sniper, this is just incorrect and you should not use that. Scout is obvious, anything UIR is recommended. Eventually you'll be able to solo scavenger runs with the scout, but you'll need some equipment that has Expertise. Ideally in the third act, you'll have an A and B team (2 supports, a sniper and fourth unit each), then you can solo with the scout if he is ready.

That's really it. If I forgot anything I'll add it later. Feel free to comment your experience or criticize mine. Looking forward to what others have found out too.
