Gears of War Forums officially shutting down in favour of Discord and other social media

Discord destroyed old-school forums.. the massive majority of traffic is now consolidated to a small amount of domains. Glad I was here for the Wild West, we will never have the same level expression or ability to organically organize communities again

This is just another opportunity for them to shut down discussion and deliberation regarding the older titles and hand wave them as legacy items. People have been threatened to be banned in the discord just for pressing the issue on things like Sybarite and map rotation issues on Gears Ultimate PC. The golden era of Gears has long since been gone and the development team is completely out of touch with what their community wants. Hot take and spicy opinion but that comes hot off of the heels of seeing those leaked DMs saying ‘Stop talking about Gears Ultimate or we’ll have your Xbox account banned.’ No studio should be interacting with players like that.

So... I guess our chances to get "Sybarite" fixed are slimmer than ever.

As much as I love discord and use it daily it's not the thing to replace forums, discussions sure but you can't optimize the search even remotely half as well as a site possibly can

Eghhh.this is what ruins games more so. The reddit/discord elite telling everyone how games should play.

Discord? Reddir? F'n really? Was a room full of crap-throwing monkeys unavailable?

Those forums had a lot of really helpful posters and some genuinely funny patter, hope the discord is the same, cuz the gears reddit is awful.

That forum had some of the biggest morons when it came to addressing issues with the achievements, so no big loss.
