I’m fairly certain game director Carrie Patel confirmed that the game "can get up to" 60fps on Xbox Series X.

That's what I think. A great alternative is 40 fps for 120 hz TVs.

I always prefer a stable frame rate compared to enhanced graphics. I like when games give you that option between Performance or Graphics but I get it can be hard to maximize both.

    What about 100 hz TVs

Edit: I’ve done a quick bit of research and it sounds like 40 fps would run at 80 hz and be the best mode to pick. Those with 50 hz TVs should always pick 30 fps (or 40 fps if available) over 60 fps otherwise you will get “screen tearing”.

I honestly don't even know the refresh rate of my TV, you have me curious. I bought it in 2017 so it's probably outdated a bit.

Thanks for doing the minimum, considering the Marketing that was done for the console. Excited for this release!

Besides TA I've barely even heard of this game. Everyone is talking about KCDII right now instead.

I would really like to buy the early access but I'm not paying £18 when there is no DLC included, other than a couple of skins and soundtrack. I have waited long enough I'm sure I can wait an extra 5 days 😂

probably going to be 60 at 1440p, unless they specify 4k

It's what you call microsoft still pushing the series s for consumers at a cheaper option with it being slightly more powerful than a xbox one x. Personally, I would think they'd just push for cloud streaming more as an option on the series S so developers can fully focus on the power of the series X

Or people that have a decent gaming setup and wish to get the most out of it. Not all of us play on a garbage TV on the couch.

Two things can be true at once you know. I can enjoy games at 30fps with no issues, but having 60 just makes the game even more enjoyable and fluid.

It's especially ridiculous when they make a game 30fps, and then 6 months later when nobody gives a fuck about the game anymore, they come out with a 60fps update that was clearly doable all along.

"Up to 60fps" is basically worse than "locked at 30fps". Unless it's constantly stable at 60fps, i don't want to have to deal with random framerate drops between 30 and 60. Hopefully they have a "quality" and "performance" modes like most X/S games have nowadays.
This is the correct analysis. Frame rote consistency matters much more to the "feel" of a game and is thus more important than frame rate target. A few small dips here and there aren't game-breaking, but a wildly variable frame rate with sizable fluctuations carry meaningful consequences to the moment to moment gameplay. I suspect they'll have Quality and Performance mode options at a minimum, and hopefully a 40fps mode for those with 120Hz displays as we've seen with other AAA releases like Starfield that offer a happy middle ground.

Does that mean there is an unlocked framerate option? I mean, that's good for future proofing but could result is some major performance fluxuations.

I've never had one of my friends on Xbox ever talk to me about FPS. I do have at least three friends on PC however, that mention it without fail when we catch up but don't seem to know the basic storyline of the games they are playing.

We're all just a sum of our experiences, so I can't be blamed for being honest and sharing mine.

There are of course too many factors for anyone to be "right". Personally, I adjust quickly to the game I am playing, and don't think about it. Switching from Fallout 76 and Call of Duty is noticeable for example, I just don't worry about it

You're on an xbox site and people here are saying it matters to them all the time, every time it's brought up. You can be blamed for just dismissing everyone else's experiences, and that's why you are "wrong" here. When they're telling you it matters, listen to them.
