Gotta give Indy time to breathe and they obviously can't push Stalker back any further
Forza junkie since FM2. Horizons are the break I need from the track. FH4 and I HAD a volatile love/hate relationship. FH5: big disappointment

Delays are not always a bad thing if they can make the game play better or release with little to no bugs (pipe dream I know) that would be great.
Exactly i don’t mind the delay.
That does not seem why it is being delayed, but because there are too many other games releasing at same time.

The delay will not improve the game.

I will wait until it releases then resub to GP, and play Stalker 2, Indy and Avowed at the same time anyway
Buying:Physical discs leads to profits, Digital games leads to bankruptcy. I will not support digital fully until we can trade digital games

This isn't all that bad for me, I was anticipating this but would most likely be playing Stalker 2 first anyways.

"Game Pass is a gaming subscription. You get a whole portfolio of games, but importantly, you get every single one of our games that we build day one in Game Pass and the quality and the breadth of those games has only been going up over time and you're going to see some more really big games going into Game Pass later this year."

Sarah Bond, Xbox president in May

Since then not only does Game Pass no longer get day 1 titles (only Ultimate), they want to delay Avowed, nobody knows if Indy will actually release this year, Stalker 2 has had five delays already and it won't be surprising if there's not going to be any first party game except Call of Duty this year.

Meanwhile the CEO of gaming Phil Spencer claimed to have been disappointed by the leaks late last year, saying that the actual plans were much better. Not only did we not get a new controller and a new Series X, we did not get Keystone, we got 2.000 people laid off and two studios shut down, a price increase (second one in 12 months) for Game Pass and they now release on Playstation. What a shitty year for Xbox. And to make matters worse, 343 keeps Halo.

Not unexpected. I imagine Obsidian is struggling with Avowed’s shoestring budget.

About a dozen years ago, on Kickstarter, I backed Pillars of Eternity—the game that established Avowed’s fictional universe. Its campaign did extraordinarily well. On release, it was highly regarded by both players & critics. It first appeared on Windows, Linux, & Apple PCs followed by console versions—XBox One, PS4, & Switch.

Obsidian’s half-assed approach with Avowed—releasing only a Series S|X version on consoles—has proven to be problematic. They, undoubtedly, are in need of the additional revenue streams that would have allowed for a more robust development budget.

Looks fairly generic (could be on Kinect tbh,) totally understandable they wanna get a bit more out of it.

    I really wouldn't call this Obsidian's approach ...

The delay has been officially confirmed by Xbox. The company tweeted out this evening:

So many games coming! As such, we're moving Avowed to Feb 18, 2025 to give players’ backlogs some breathing room.

Stay tuned for more from our games across Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda & Xbox Game Studios at Gamescom, including our Aug 23 livestream for a look at Avowed.

lol, what releases? Can’t say there’s a whole lot that I’m looking forward to in 2024 except Life is Strange and maybe Indiana Jones.

The only first party I was interested in will be released in 2025. How can we get so little from so many studios?

That being said if it would be to add coop I'd be up to wait another 5 months...

Like I said before if the rumor is true, then Microsoft don't really have a firm timestamp of when there game's get's released...s.t.a.l.k.e.r. 2 is one example...but I can understand that was due to the russian-ukraine war...
    Avowed has no excuses...tho...
They said they are releasing later to allow the game breathing space, over a very busy schedule. Do you not think that's a good idea, or are you of the opinion that a game MUST release on xyz date without fail, regardless of the market situation?
I don't really care either way...if avowed want breathing room.. that's fine and dandy...and all..
but when a game get's delayed or not released at all it's kinda disappointing...
It's kinda like when you are a kid and it's christma's time and you go to your christma's tree and realize there are no gifts...and then realize that the gifts you was suppose to get you will get on a later date...
And it's even worst that a Obsidian game director...post's the release date of avowed and then delete's it...
Like they are trying to hide something...hmmm...something fishy or must be going on...in Obsidian...to have them do that...
    Don't u think so?
Nope. I don't think there's something fishy. Folks can make a mistake. He can post something, perhaps enthusiastically, only to be told that's not correct. And he's look oops.
Human error is a real thing and doesn't require outrage and vitriol and spite. Perhaps a little patience for those waiting for the game?
    Would you kindly...

    Dragon Age: The Veilguard
    Indiana Jones

And that whole Christmas (Christma's ?) metaphor was weird. It's nothing like that. Christmas is 25th every year. It doesn't get delayed. If you don't get a present then maybe you don't deserve one?
    Would you kindly...

Ok…lol… CoD is crap. Ubisoft (AC) is crap. Can’t say I give a shit about Ara? or Kingdom Come lol… and not sure what FS is.

I’m gonna need more, I’m afraid.

Agreed. I misspoke. Obsidian has always understood how to maximize revenues by extending their games to multiple platforms. Microsoft, on the other hand, has a history of cutting its nose off to spite its face.

They stopped caring and just find lame excuses to keep their "we don't give a f" attitude. Xbox's been irrelevant since Don Mattrick days

Damn... Thankfully CatQuest 3 is coming out in a few days because I have nothing else to look forward to this year... Hopefully we get a release date for the Gex Trilogy soon and an official announcement for the Soul Reaver Remaster, but it's pretty sad the best games left this year are releases of games from over 2 decades ago...
