Xbox One X Overheating Issues

Anyone else having this issue where this game keeps shutting your Xbox One X down? Google search seems to suggest this was an issue the devs were aware of ages ago. I can only play it for 5 minutes tops before it shuts my machine down automatically.

I had same when trying to play Doom Eternal on XBox One X.
I struggled to play more than few minutes.
The Xbox would get noisy then shut down.
On restarting it would say had overheated, even though console was cool, clean and well ventilated.
It only happened with Doom and one other game.
I'm lucky and managed to get Series X and Doom now works fine.

Looking online I read many OneX owners having problems re shut down happening in random games.
Seems also known problems but neither MS or Devs sorted it out.

It could just be the game doing a hard crash similar to how Modern Warfare did when it launched 2 years ago. Or it could be overheating like scotwolf2 mentioned above. If it's overheating, that can be fixed by replacing the thermal paste. The One X is known to have really poor thermal paste and that's why the fans speed up very audibly. I replaced the thermal paste as soon as the issue was known and never had any cooling issues or crashes related to overheating again. I say it's worth replacing the thermal paste to eliminate that as a problem and then go from there.

if you dont have the know-how, some computer repair places clean & repair consoles as well, you can take it to one and they will do it for you.

This is the only game it does it on, well Ace Combat 7 did it as well, but they patched that and it fixed the issue. Guess I'll play it properly when (if) I get my hands on a new Series X before Christmas.

For what it's worth, I had this issue a LOT with metro exodus, a little with borderlands 3 and sprinkled a little with games I don't recall.

Do y'all have your consoles in an enclosed area (inside an entertainment center), on carpet, or have pets around your consoles often? I've played every game mentioned in this thread on an OG Xbone and it's never once overheated on me.

This game, and especially the DLC, seems very unoptimized for Xbox. I've had 2 crashes since downloading the DLC.
