I'm so sure the Black Myth Wukong delay is largely due to Sony going on their knees and asking the devs to make it a timed exclusive for PS5. They have been pretty aggressive with exclusivity recently.

Also, I genuinely don't understand why some devs delay Xbox releases due to Series S issues. Just release the game on Series X first then when the game has been optimised, release it for the Series S. It's not that hard. It hurts Series X users because the S has held us Series X users back a lot.

Honestly as long as a better game comes out of it, I’m generally fine with delays as long as they aren’t indefinite or continual.

Plus fuck knows how big my backlog already is laugh

My backlog is huge. It's gonna take me years to finish it. Plus I don't get much time for gaming so it's gonna take even longer to finish.

Wow, not a single game on the list catches my attention at all.

No way this is in the interest of MS so it's a red line devs are not allowed to cross and would piss of all user with a series s console. It would mainly generate bad press, maybe in some cases a series s version will never be available and if possible maybe some devs are just skipping the s version because they don't care.

As much as I love the series I am actually starting to lose interest in state of decay 3 now

Devs have gotten lazy for optimization though that's 100% for sure.

Not like it matters by now but it is not possible to allow developers to release games on Series S whenever they feel like because it would naturally result in Series S not getting graphically intensive games anymore. Microsoft already humiliated itself by allowing Baldur's Gate 3 to come out without the split screen mode. At least there was something to cut while keeping the core game intact but Wukong is different. It might never come out because it is already running in pretty low quality on the base PS5 and the Series X usually underperforms in multiplats by default. Larian Studios was incredibly generous to put extra effort in and release BG3 on Xbox, it is not something we could or should expect from other developers.
Even after the subpar Xbox One base unit Phil Spencer still forgot if you release a console you are stuck with it for almost a decade. Now the Series S is not only the laughing stock of comparison videos but straight up creates exclusives for other platforms (for free).

I actually didn't know Series X performs worse than PS5 in multiplats.
Isn't it the most powerful console? That's kinda confusing to me. It has better hardware than the PS5.

February is well packed with Avowed, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and AC Shadows. I bet one of them will delay further, probably AC Shadows. Avowed seemed to only be delayed to avoid clutter of GP with COD, Stalker 2 and Indy. KCD2 was recently brought forward to earlier release, so I doubt they will delay it again.

I still need to finish KCD1 so 2 could be left until later, so probably resub to GP in Feb (after it cancels in Jan) for Avowed, then resub Ubi+ for Shadows in March.

I also need to try and get Dark Allaiance online done before 24th Feb but still all low level at the moment.
Buying:Physical discs leads to profits, Digital games leads to bankruptcy. I will not support digital fully until we can trade digital games

The hardware is better by a large margin but the performance is worse. At the beginning of the generation there was a much bigger difference, since then the Xbox development tools got better. Nowadays it is a coin toss if there is a noticeable difference but in the majority of modern graphically intensive games the Series version is the worst port. There are a few exceptions like WH40K Space Marine 2 where the Xbox version is much better, but only a few. Some partially blame it on the need to develop the Series S version as the publishers want to save money so less people work on the X version to make the S. However a handful of developers and experts pointed out the Series consoles not only have a few bottlenecks where the raw power is lost but how it was engineered focusing on principles that never became popular. Meanwhile the PS5 was made in a way that fits in modern game development. One notable example is Variable Rate Shading which is supported on a hardware level in the SX but not in the PS5 as MS expected it to help with optimization. But instead various upscaling techniques became popular where the PS5 is equal except games favor the higher clock frequencies it has. The only big title that used VRS in a way Microsoft expected it was the Dead Space Remake and it looked terrible at launch on the PS5 compared to the Series X. However EA went back to it as one of their biggest markets was hurting and replaced the entire VRS solution to upscaling where the two consoles became equal. Needless to say no dev will rewrite their entire rendering pipeline with full screen VRS (partial solutions exist in games) in mind just for the Series X/S. They rather use upscaling as a "fit all" solution. Even Microsoft proved their hardware is flawed when they began releasing first party titles on PS5. Out of the 4 starter games 3 ran better on the PS5 than they did after years of patches on the Series X.
Basically Microsoft is manufacturing a console which was supposed to be 30% stronger than the PS5 (and more expensive accordingly) for nothing... Even when the SX performs better in some games it is a far cry from the promised 30%. The PS4 was 10% stronger than the One and it performed noticeable better in every single game. Imagine what would have happened if Microsoft didn't want to beat the PS5 by a mile at the design table? It would have made the base PS5 look like a Pro.

Cities Skylines II had such big issues on PC that it is surprising they're even still considering console releases!

I played it on PC Game Pass when it launched. Absolutely horrendous. Terrible launch, extremely laggy, riddled with bugs, overall extremely poor.
