Notifications show no more under the bell icon

    Hello,

Since a few weeks now, I no longer have the number of notifications shown next to the bell, on the Guide menu.

I do see the pop-ups when I unlock an achievement, receive a message or a friend invites me to a party, or when I get a Rewards quest completed, but if I don't open them when they pop, they don't show in the bell section, it just says "you have no notification".

For the messages I can see a number on the message tab, no problem, but for the Rewards it's a bit more boring.

Do you people also experience that? I found no way to solve that. I'm on XSX, but I guess it's the same on One too.

And as a bonus, when I open the PC Xbox app, I always have notifications saying "you have unlocked 32 achs". I put it as read and delete it, but later it comes back saying the same thing.
I guess for both platforms we can't do anything as it's related to Microsoft, but I wanted to have your reactions. A friend of mine still see his notification on Xbox. cry

    Thanks for the replies.

Mine are working as intended. I would assume you've checked all of your notification settings. Maybe a hard reset???

Yes, I forgot to tell what I've done so far. I checked the settings and everything is as intented. And when the bug occured, I changed nothing either, the settings are the same before and after.

And yes, I did a hard reset. We're agree that on XSX, to do so, we just have to restart the console by holding the Guide menu on the controller? Because the Xbox One method doesn't seem to work here, by holding the power button for 5 seconds on the console itself.

Holding the power button for 5 seconds absolutely works on the Series consoles. Restarting it via the menus is not a hard restart AFAIK.

I've done the hard reset a couple of times. Seems to clear whatever ailments are problematic at the time.

I just tried, and I see no difference with restarting from the menus. With both methods, I have the Xbox logo introduction when restarting 'normally I don't see it because my console is set to sleep mode). Maybe it worked deleting the cache, but visually I see the same thing.
And when I restarted by pressing the console button for 5 seconds, when it came back nothing happened. And after restarting through the menus, once back on the dashboard, the console detected my 2 external hard drives (but still no notification on the bell thing). Meaning the first method wasn't a hard reset? Don't know.

Restarting it via the menus is not a hard restart AFAIK.
That's what I've read once on a forum or an article on the Internet, so in my mind it was the only way.

Make sure you are doing the unplug part of the hard reset.

    Hold power until off
    Unplug power
Hold power button again for a few seconds (Not sure, but it supposedly empties the capacitors)
Let sit for about 5 min
Plug back in and have it.

I already did it before you suggested it to me, but I redid it with the capacitors part, just in case. For now, no change. I played a Game Pass game to get the Reward quest, I got the pop-up once the 15min have past, but still nothing in the bell section.

We can now say it's not a trouble linked to the console but from MS' servers, certainly. Too bad I don't have some more identical feedbacks, I really feel lonely on that, but if it's just me, I found no way to solve that...

Ok, one other thing that helped me a while back. Delete your profile from the machine. Do the hard reset. Fire it back up and redownload your profile. I forget the problem I was having at the time, but it did fix it for me.

Sorry for the late reply, I wanted to let time pass a bit before I do my conclusion on you suggestion. And with no surprise, even after deleting and redownloading my profile, the bug is still there. I just unlocked a few achs, and nothing on/in the bell icon. cry
I'll try to contact Microsoft directly but I'm not confident they'll answer or find a solution.

Do you have a second xbox to see if it does the same?

    I'll test that.
