Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning epitomizes the western open-world RPG. If you’re a fan of that genre 23 USD or the equivalent is a fabulous price for a game that was just released a few months ago.

Shameless plug: I might add that I just submitted the walkthrough for review. I don’t write many walkthroughs & take great care in the few I do. My specialty is providing a streamlined approach to shorten and condense games of broad scope. I also focus on games with relatively high TA ratios providing the necessary detail to guarantee 100% completion.

I'm curious about the quality of this remaster. I have the 360 version in my backlog, and much like bayonetta and vanquish, I don't see any real incentive to go for many of these remasters, unless content has been added, or performance issues have been significantly improved.
    We meet again, Trebek.

The game is more of a port than a remaster. It has exceptional graphics but the content is virtually unchanged except for incorporating the DLC content into the game.

Note that ALL DLC content is present. That means your special delivery chest in Gorhart is chock full. You have a dowel you carry in inventory that shows all reagents. You have a compass that increases your persuasion skill. These make the pesky Wink & a Smile and Green Thumb achievements much easier to get. The Green Thumb achievement (whether bugged in the player’s favor or intentional) pops very early after getting 100 reagents from any source instead of harvesting ten of each different kind of reagent.

The game was one of the best I played last year. It was significantly better than the Outer Worlds that was voted TA game of the year. The performance is better than the 360 game. No story content has been added unless you count the DLCs but the perks you get from all the old DLC packs allow you to really hit the ground running & make for a much more enjoyable experience.

The version that's on sale doesn't have ALL the DLC though, just all the 360 DLC. it doesn't include the Fatesworn DLC

Good point. I should have clarified and am glad you pointed it out.

My comments above refer to all the 360 DLC. Re-Reckoning, as you state, has the upcoming Fatesworn DLC that is scheduled for release in 2021.

The main point I was making is that there was some obscure DLC for the old 360 game that some people might not have been aware of--pre-order and promotional bonuses that were not available to everyone. For example, the dowsing rod--a great tool that reveals all reagents on mini- & local maps--was only available as an Amazon pre-order bonus. The Compass of Fate that gave the valuable +1 Persuasion that helps you get the Wink & a Smile achievement was obtained from the GameStop pre-order bonus. All the different 360 promotional and pre-order bonus DLCs were included in the Re-Reckoning base game.

Wow, didn't know that. That's awesome that is comes with all the obscure pre-order stuff, and not just the paid DLC. Cool to know!

Yes usually, you start an RPG having to painstakingly work on some basics. Here, you can gear up and get some unique perks so it makes for a much faster and more enjoyable start. What I like best is the Mass Effect Shepherd's armor that looks super-cool.
