2022

Welcome to my third annual game of the year, determined by the games I played throughout the year. 2022 was a monumental year as I hit that coveted 1,000,000 gamerscore. I wanted to take a break from the heavy scoring, so my games played were down. I was able to have another good year of attacking the backlog. Looking back at the games I played, this year ended up being tough on choosing my favorites. These are my top 5 favorite games played, top 3 underrated games, and top 3 disappointments for the games I played in 2022.

You know I love to get the bad out of the way first, so here it goes.

3. DEEEER Simulator: Your Average Everyday Deer Game

This one was really glitchy for me and the movement was really clunky. I didn't like the movement and am glad the completion was really short

2. Race with Ryan
This game is lucky that there was another game that was worse, because this was a turd. The kid was annoying and you heard from him too much. The achievements for playing the same levels over and over again were stupid, especially the drifting one. The only saving grace is the auto driving

1. Echo Generation
This was my ultimate loser for 2022. I had to restart this game three times because of glitchy gameplay and achievements. I had to ditch the console game for the PC version. I can't stand when games do this. Gamepass was the only saving grace for this one.


With the bad out of the way, lets look at some underrated games for 2022

3. Artful Escape
I really enjoyed this game. The music stood with me long past the end of the game. I still fire it up every once in awhile, it is that good. The story was excellent as well. I love the message about self discovery and finding your own path. A truly excellent game.

Alright, on to my favorite games that I played in 2022. This year was really tough. Games like Death's Door, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Tunic, and MLB the Show 21 barely missed the cut. I decided not to do allow any remasters as Alan Wake and Sleeping Dogs might have been on the list.


5. Guardians of the Galaxy
I didn't think much of this game when it came out. I saw it on sale a bunch and on black friday sales, to which I almost bought it. I was happy it came to game pass and when I started it I enjoyed my time quite a bit. The music was excellent, per the standards that James Gunn started. The story was really good as it avoided any origin story and threw you right into the universe. I would recommend this game to any Marvel or adventure fan.

4. Halo Infinite
I am well aware of the criticism that 343 gets with this game and to be honest the game should be number one on my list. I love Halo, the universe is one of my favorite in video games. I enjoyed the risk of the open world. The story was better than 5. The score was excellent. I came to this after the inevitable patches and I don't personally care about coop. I appreciate that to others it is important, but I also enjoy the risk they took with this game. I actually still play the multiplayer from time to time, something I haven't done since Halo 3.

3. Farm Together
This game was not on my radar at all until people from the AH101 group started playing it. I haven't look at my stats from TA, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is my number 1 played game. I enjoyed all aspects of it and I would recommend it to any management fan. The grind can be a little long, but the game was overall really good.

2. Assassins Creed Odyssey
This was an amazing adventure game. Y'all know my stance on the new iterations of the series. I don't think they are truly assassin games, but they created a great world nonetheless. The graphics were second best to my time with Red Dead 2. The story was excellent, just really good. In typical Ubisoft fashion they bogged it down with too many side quests, but to their credit I wanted to complete a lot of them. The crafting and loot items were over the top, I was constantly at full capacity on items. This is another one that I listen to the score from time to time, they created a great musical score. The full complete edition goes for 20 bucks, which gives you access to hundreds of hours of content. This was an amazing game that was in the backlog too long.

1. The Riftbreaker
I fell in love with this game on the tutorial. There isn't any aspect of it I don't like. The system is not that complicated for newbies to pick it up and play. I love everything here and wouldn't be disappointed if I had to play this for the rest of my life. I don't know what to put in the spotlight because it all is so well done. I look forward to some more DLC I think will come out this year. I believe it is still on game pass so go and play this ASAP!

I had some wonderful memories in 2022. 2023 will have a hard time replicating such great games I got to enjoy this last year. I hope everyone has a great year! wildwest08
