If you were looking forward to Monolith Productions' action-adventure Xbox game, you might be in for a bit of a wait.Wonder Woman game appears to be in development hell, according to reportsWonder Woman is an action-adventure game in development at Warner Bros' Monolith ProductionsIt was announced in 2021, but has since been rebooted and could still be years away from releaseWarner Bros has reportedly already spent over $100 million on the gameIt's been over seven years since Monolith Productions gave us the fantastic Middle-earth: Shadow of War, and according to a new report from Bloomberg, it could be longer still until we see the studio's next game: Wonder Woman. The game apparently switched directors for a reboot early last year, and "is still years away from release, if it ever makes it to market."Bloomberg reports that Monolith started work on a new franchise with procedural storytelling after the launch of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, but Warner Bros apparently didn't want to experiment with new characters and universes. Instead, the publisher is said to have suggested that the game was attached to one of its blockbuster IPs, like Game of Thrones or DC, which was apparently a struggle.Monolith's original project was reportedly at a bit of a standoff for around three years, but despite apparently knowing it wasn't going anywhere, Warner Bros didn't take action until 2021. After canceling the game, and losing studio head Kevin Stephans and many of Monolith's directors, the studio is said to have started work on Wonder Woman, which was then announced at The Game Awards 2021 with a very short teaser. It sounds like Monolith continued to face development issues, however, as the project was seemingly once again rebooted at the start of 2024. Bloomberg says, "An initial version of Wonder Woman tried reimagining the Nemesis system with the game’s namesake heroine befriending enemies, but that idea has since been tossed out in favor of a more traditional action-adventure game."In other Warner Bros' news, Hogwarts Legacy is reportedly getting more DLC, which will help fill the gap while we wait for its sequel. What do you make of this news?
