Here's some great news for your Friday: Level-5 is publishing its first game on Xbox this year, and players will be able to dive into its "slow-life" RPG to unlock the Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time achievements in May — great news for Xbox RPG fans!

Ni no Kuni developer announces new RPG for Xbox

  • Level-5 is launching its first self-published game on Xbox
  • Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time launches on May 21, 2025
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is described as a "Slow-life RPG" that lets you live out a carefree existence in a fantasy world. You'll be free to switch between 14 unique Lives, which are pretty much jobs, letting you fish, cook, decorate your own home, craft weapons, battle monsters, and shape your new island home to your liking. When it launches on Xbox Series X|S on May 21, it'll include multiplayer for up to four players as well as cross-play and cross-progression with other platforms.

"You are an adventurer who sets sail with the archaeologist Edward and his team. Following the light emanating from a dragon's fossil, you discover an uncharted, deserted island," the store description reads. "A vast abyss, a dragon made of bone, and a girl's message that begs you to save the world... Travel between the island that thrived 1,000 years ago and the present-day island to unravel the mystery of its downfall!"

Many players attribute Level-5's absence on Xbox to the canceled Xbox exclusive MMO True Fantasy Live Online. Microsoft Game Studios Japan was set to publish the game but canceled it in 2004 after development complications. Had it worked out, True Fantasy Live Online would have been the first MMO to launch on Xbox.
